Wat a week this has been!
Been very busy with train the trainer and incident investigation! I learned a lot from Joe in train the trainer on how to present. It's now simply putting the gained knowledge into practice.
The incident investigation course we did with Francois Storm was an interesting one because of his training style (very passionate and vocal).
We haven't seen our mentors for a while simply because of both parties being very busy.
Its almost the end of the month, and after my first two months i must say that I'm very grateful to have received all the training, coaching and mentoring. The amount of learning that has taken place is tremendous.
I now know for sure that by completion of this program we will all be competent SHEQ professionals! The program has been thought out well and is also very well managed.

Sjoe!
I'm so glad that this week is over, a lot of up and downs!
I was really stressed about the outcome of this coarse, as i have met ACAP an Oom Paul
before. This is not a easy coarse as Jo confirmed today, its actually one of most challenging and
I can vouch for that.
All in all i came out OK, it would have been better if i concentrated a bit more in
the test i must say, but at the end of the day I passed with a CUM LAUDE.
I want to thank Oom Paul for sharing his knowledge, passion and experience if it was not for him, I think i still wouldn't of had a clue about the Common Audit Protocol.
I hope everyone rests out properly, I think we all need it.

Presentations
This week we were working on our presentations that we presented today.
I think were we all made our first mistake was taking up to much time wit the
slides and not preparing more, but all in all this was our first attempt and we learned a lot from it.
If I just look at my first at temp on Thursday and compare it with the assessment of today, there
was a major improvement (thanks to the help of Wesley).
this was a very good learning experience and i realised that this is an essential skill that can
be used in many different ways!
I Just want to thank Wesley and Carel for their input.
You can see that Wesley has thought this program through and is fully committed to our development.

Today I'm working on my presentation for Friday.
So far it's going well, except for sometimes getting a better example than shown in the original
framework. So far I've extended my knowledge on incident investigation through some research
I've done.
Today was bit of a more relaxed environment, nice for a change not to have to concentrate for a full 7 hours!

23 Jan 2009 Riskmaq part 1
What a week!
I don't think I have ever had to or maybe wanted to take in so much in a 4 day period, the test is over and done with, and it went very well!
Outcome.
Very much like the MSRM coarse we did, just a lot more in depth. Basically risk management concepts and systems. I must be honest and say that I'm relieved that we are not doing a coarse next week.
Mark Anderson was a excellent trainer with his expertise on the law, as well as risk management. It is a real privilege for me to have been taught by the IRCA trainers, they all have a great wealth of knowledge and experience.

What a day!
Today we got the test over and done with and it went extremely well if you look at the marks achieved. Like I said, I aimed high and I am happy with my results!
I want to thank Pieter Hamman again for the tremendous effort that he has put into the program. It really excites me that he wants to get involved in the PDP program, because of the passion that he puts into his work. I've spoken to him a few times when we had a chance and I found out that he has a lot of experience in most of risk management processes.
The important bit that came out of this coarse for me was, how to integrate safety systems and how to make them work for you. I'm just itching to get out and see how it all comes together in the working environment.
I'm going to be the new health and safety rep for the BIT and training departments, and had a discussion with Matt and he said he will assist us all in making it work!
I'm off to the farm for the weekend to relax a bit, because next week is going to be a big one as we start with the RISKMAQ part 1.
Cheers!

Very interesting day.
We did a exercise using the causation model as a tool for the Challenger disaster and I am
very happy to see that as a group we are able to work together.
Whilst busy with tab 14 dealing with incident investigation and root cause analysis I became confused, because I was sure I wanted
to do tab2, but tab 14 was becoming very appealing.
The rest of today will consist of studying because
tomorrow is the big test and I'm aiming high!
Cheers!
